How do I scan a receipt?
Tap Scan Receipt and take a photo. A single photo scans automatically after a few seconds. For a long receipt, tap Add Next Part and photograph the rest — overlapping the sections slightly is fine — then tap Scan Pages as One Receipt.
Where do recall alerts come from?
Your items are checked every day against new recall announcements from U.S. government agencies: the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), the FDA, the USDA Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS), and — for vehicles — NHTSA. When a match is confirmed, the item is flagged in the app, and you get an alert by notification (if you turned alerts on) or by email (if you've signed in).
How accurate are the expiry dates?
Expiration dates are estimates based on typical shelf life for the product type — always check the date printed on the product itself. Return windows and warranties are computed from the store's published policy and your receipt date.
How do I sync across devices?
Tap Use on another phone on the home screen and enter your email. Open the sign-in link we send you on any device to see the same items there.
How do I delete my data?
Swipe any item's ✕ to remove it, or use Remove All Expired in My Items. To delete your account and everything in it, tap Erase my data (or Delete account when signed in) on the home screen and confirm — it's immediate and covers every device (and cancels a Known Plus subscription, if you have one). You can also email us and we'll remove everything within 30 days.
Which stores are supported?
Any store's printed receipt, e-receipt PDF or screenshot works — Known recognises the store from the receipt itself and applies its return policy where we know it. Tell us which store you'd like tuned next!
In the app, tap How Known works → Still stuck? Email us, or email support@keepknown.app. Either way you get a ticket number right away, and we reply within one business day.
