How long does almond butter last?

Almond butter keeps for about 1 year in the pantry. Counted from when you open or store it, unless the package says otherwise.

When stored in the pantry, almond butter may become hard and the natural oil may separate and float to the top; this is perfectly normal. To reincorporate the natural almond oils into the almond butter, simply mix it manually or with a hand mixer.

Storage times are the USDA FoodKeeper guidance for quality and safety, not a guarantee; a printed use-by date on the package comes first. Source: USDA FSIS FoodKeeper (CC0), fetched 2026-10-27, category Shelf Stable Foods.

How Known uses thisWhen a receipt lists almond butter, Known estimates an expiry from the purchase date and typical shelf life and shows which rule it used, for example "7-day rule". Shelf-stable staples get no date at all.
