Costco return policy: how many days you have
Costco's return policy has no time limit on most merchandise: you can return it to any warehouse for a full refund. The exceptions are a 90-day window on electronics and major appliances, and a handful of items that cannot be returned at all.
| What | Window |
|---|---|
| Most items | No time limit. Refund of the purchase price at any warehouse returns counter; Costco.com orders can also be returned online. |
| 90 days from receipt | Televisions, projectors, computers, touchscreen tablets, smart wearables, cameras, drones, camcorders, MP3 players, cellular phones, and major appliances (refrigerators over 10 cu. ft., freezers, ranges, cooktops, over-the-range and under-counter microwaves, range hoods, dishwashers, water heaters, washers, dryers). |
| Diamonds 1.00 ct and up | Bring the original IGI or GIA certificate; Costco's gemologist verifies the stone within 48 hours. |
| Not returnable | Custom and special-order items (except warranty repair), airline and live-event tickets, precious metals, Shop Cards, gift cards. Cigarettes and alcohol where state law prohibits returns. |
| Tires and batteries | Treated as limited-life products; a product-specific warranty applies instead of the general policy. |
| Membership | Can be cancelled and refunded in full at any time. |

Tip
Costco keeps every purchase on your membership, so a lost receipt is not a problem. The 90-day clock on electronics starts the day you receive the item, not the day you order it.
Holiday returns 2026
Most merchandise has no time limit, so there is nothing to extend. The 90-day window on electronics and major appliances is not extended for the holidays. Costco holiday return policy →
